The Indian Baraat! It’s the heart-thumping, joyous procession that celebrates the groom’s journey to the wedding venue—a lively tradition bursting with color, music, and exuberance. The Baraat marks the groom’s formal arrival and is a cherished pre-wedding ritual in many Indian cultures. Traditionally, the groom arrives on a beautifully adorned horse to symbolize his journey toward a new chapter of life. Friends and family, known as the baraatis, accompany him, dancing their way through the streets to the beats of dhol (drums) and lively music. The procession is not just a walk; it’s a moving celebration where loved ones share in the joy, dancing with unbridled enthusiasm as they approach the wedding venue. When the Baraat finally arrives, the bride’s family welcomes the groom with a ritual known as milni, symbolizing the unity of two families. This celebration of joy, unity, and tradition adds a truly magical start to an Indian wedding!
